Dear Mrs. Shanmugaraj,
I love, love, love, boiled green peas and wanted to know how many green peas I should eat to be able to say I ate one serving of vegetables.

Is it one teacup full or a large soup bowl full of green peas or a handful.

Is it bad that I only eat green peas.
Thank you,

Mana

Hello Mana,

As a dietician I too love, love, love the fact that you like green peas sooooo much!!

Well Mana, one tea cup of boiled or raw [Wash them well if you also like them raw] green peas is considered as one serving of vegetables & at your age you
need 2 servings of vegetables daily.

Before I answer your next question, what I would like to know from you is,
"How would you like it if you had to study only geography or Hindi at school?"
It would get boring & make you feel incomplete, right?

It's the same with your body, too. Your body needs exciting nourishment from all different colored vegetables. So, enjoy veggies like baby carrots, cabbage, broccoli, bean sprouts, potatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, lettuce etc also, in your meals.

Meanwhile, you can request mom to sprinkle a handful of peas while cooking some of these vegetables, so you can keep loving them.

Have a healthy day!!

Sincerely,

Ms.Padmashri Shanmugaraj
