Hello Mr.Vinay,

Thanks for trusting NutritionVista with Avaneesh’s dietary concerns.

Upon reviewing your query, I have the following recommendations for
Avaneesh. (Please note that these tips are applicable only if your baby
has no medical conditions where special dietary care would be needed)

As a parent, be aware that your child is becoming more independent. When
it comes to his diet, set rules and gently but firmly stick to your
decisions. Eating habits established now will form a strong basis for his
food choices later.
Since your child has not yet learned to chew his food well, it is advisable
to give him soft, mashed foods along with some liquid foods (unsweetened
fruit juices, vegetable/ chicken soups, unsweetened milk and clean, boiled
water)
Do continue to offer him favorite liquid foods, but offer new fruits and
vegetables too, along with it. Make meal time fun and offer bright
coloured foods like carrots, beets, broccoli, spinach, papaya, mango,
orange etc. Thus, he has every chance of enjoying a varied, nutritious
diet.
Initially, offer new food in the mashed/semi-solid form and slowly improve
the consistency, meanwhile teaching him to chew his foods well.
Once he is comfortable with fruits & veggies, you can try and incorporate
rice and/or chapathis too. Serve them with dal or a non-veg gravy, so they
are soft and can be chewed easily.
Whenever you want to offer a new food, pick a time when he is cheerful and
playful. If he is too tired or cranky or is sleepy, he may ‘resist’ more,
making it a stressful experience for both the child and you.
If the mother and the child are comfortable continuing with breast-milk,
they can do so. It is better that the mother breastfeeds at night and/or
first thing in the morning.

I hope the information provided is useful to you. Please do not hesitate
