Everyone seems to be "Taking a Nutrition supplement in a pill form."

Should I be taking them too?

Q1. Should I be taking dietary supplements?
If you are relatively healthy, exercise moderately and eat a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, lean meats and fish you do not need any dietary supplements.

Q2. Under what conditions, do dietary supplements become necessary?
Dietary supplements may be taken under the following conditions:

  • If you don't eat well or regularly consume less than your daily caloric needs.
  • Are a vegetarian and don't substitute or complement your diet appropriately, eg Protein
  • Are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breast-feeding
  • Are a woman who experiences heavy bleeding during your menstrual period or are a postmenopausal woman.
  • Have a current medical condition that affects how your body absorbs, processes or excretes nutrients, such as chronic diarrhea, food allergies, food intolerance or a disease of the liver, gallbladder, intestines or pancreas.
  • For patients who are recovering from surgery or an illness or have a chronic deficiency, pill supplements become critical, but must be taken after physician advisement and under supervised medical guidance.

Caution: Often there are side effects or a supplement might interact with your other medications. ALWAYS follow the instructions given by your physician and make sure you do not take excessive amounts as supplements can also be especially harmful when taken in larger doses.

Below are 7 essential mineral/ vitamin nutrients that our body needs in varying amounts to function well.

MyoCalm Ayurveda and yoga not only complement each other but both sciences actually embrace each other as they share similarities and fundamental principles on many levels. Ayurveda and yoga should go together to achieve optimal health, peace, and longevity.

Kanika Jain I agree,if a normal healthy person takes a well balanced diet and does adequate physical activity then there is no need for taking any dietary supplement.
