4. Vitamin D
Category: Fat soluble vitamins
Best food sources: Fortified milk, fatty fish, fish liver oils, mushrooms.
RDA Indian Men and women: 10mcg or 400 IU
  U.S Men and Women: 9-50 years: 5 mcg or 200 IU
51-70 years: 10mcg or 400 IU
> 70 years: 15mcg or 600 IU
For Osteopenia or osteoporosis: 25mg or 1,000IU
UL* 50mg or 2000 IU
Main function: It helps your body absorb calcium. Used to treat vitamin D deficiency (rickets in children, osteomalacia in adults) and to improve use of calcium by the body. Required by the body for proper absorption of phosphorus from foods, for bone mineralization, and for possible cancer prevention.
Potential side effects from excessive consumption - Bone pain, headaches, constipation or diarrhea or any effect you may notice on ingestion should be reported to the doctor. Excess dosing can cause hypercalcaemia and hyperphosphotemia (excess calcium and phosphorus in the blood) eventually leading to calcification of soft tissues such as the heart, liver and kidney and the ear membrane (can lead to deafness), headaches, weakness, nausea and vomiting, constipation, frequent urination.

Kanika Jain I agree,if a normal healthy person takes a well balanced diet and does adequate physical activity then there is no need for taking any dietary supplement.
