How To Manage Your Gout? Altering your diet can go a long way!

FOODS TO EAT -
- Increase fluids especially plain water- Drink as much of fluids as possible especially water as it will help you flush uric acid out of the system. Around 3-4 litres of fluids in all would help tremendously
- Include liberal amounts of low fat Milk. As milk, whey and cottage cheese do not have purines, it is beneficial to include around 700-800 ml of low fat milk or around 100 Gms of cottage cheese. However fermented diary products like yogurt, buttermilk, cured cheese etc., have purines in them and are best avoided or eaten in limited amounts to reduce the risk of gout.
- Include complex carbohydrates. Ideally it is best to eat more whole grains, fruits and vegetables to prevent any health problem including gout. Reducing intake of foods made from refined carbohydrates, such as white bread, cakes and candy would positively help.
- Coffee and Vitamin C: There's also some evidence that drinking four to six cups of coffee a day lowers gout risk especially in men and Its also been observed that including liberal amounts of Vitamin C (many fruits like citrus, cherries, etc) helps to control gout.
