The conditions under which we store our medications is critical - If not stored properly, chemical changes may take place which may make the drug ineffective or even produce harmful by products. While we are careful to check the expiry dates of drugs, many of us ignore the storage instructions on the packs of medicines.

Avandia, used for treating Diabetes, is being monitored for causing heart attacks or heart failure in patients. Bisphosphonates, namely Actonel, Boniva or Fosamax benefits are now being questioned, is a drug meant to reduce or prevent fractures due to fragility of bones.

Recently, 170.4 million eggs distributed to stores in 14 states in the US were recalled for salmonella poisoning. This time the recall was eggs, but in the past it’s been hamburgers, or chicken or spinach in Califormia, or prepared foods on cruise ships sailing the Bahamas, or at a large wedding banquet hall in Bangalore seating 1000 where it was found that food servers with contaminated hands were to blame for 30 deaths.
