This can be very clearly seen in the originally grass-fed but now grain fed livestock. To improve productivity grain-corn was introduced to dairy feed which is known to have a high amount of omega -6 fats. So the researchers now want to add a little amount of flax seed to the grain based dairy feed to restore balance. While Health authorities in France recommend 30-40% calories from fats, US FDA suggests a range of 20-30 per cent. However, of the 3 fats or fatty acids Saturated fats (SFA) Mono unsaturated fats (MUFA) & Poly unsaturated fats (PUFA) both governments agree that most of that intake should be from PUFA AND MUFA such as fish, nuts and vegetable oils rather than the saturated fats found in red meat and dairy products.
* Results derived from experiments with four generations of mice fed a 35-percent fat diet with the omega imbalance as consumed in much of the developed world. The result was progressively fatter mice at birth, generation after generation. The rodents also developed insulin-resistance, indicating diabetes Type II and also the most common and debilitating disorder a direct consequence of obesity in humans.
