With lemon?
Many people enjoy their green tea with a dash of lemon juice. Studies have shown that most catechins are not absorbed into the bloodstream when the tea is drunk alone. The lowering of pH by the addition of lemon helps in the absorption.
So for all you tea lovers, if you drink black tea keep the milk out and if you drink green tea, don't forget the lemon.
The popularity of tea probably lies in its versatile effects on the body, and as Gladstone (1865) put it, “If you are cold, tea will warm you. If you are too heated, it will cool you. If you are depressed, it will cheer you. If you are excited, it will calm you.
