Exercising to improve your condition
Many individuals with osteoporosis fear exercising. They think they might end up with fractures. The fact is, that exercising actually protects the bones and improves bone density. Even if a person has lost some bone density, regular exercising helps -
- Make bones less brittle
- Increase muscle strength
- Improve balance
- Improve posture
- Relieve or decreases pain
- Improve the sense of wellbeing
The kind of exercise depends upon what the individual enjoys and is fit enough to do. A combination of strength training, weight bearing aerobic exercises and balance exercises are needed for good results.
