For most of the past decade, there has been much hype about the Atkins diet. This diet focuses on quick, effective ways to lose weight through high-protein and low-carbohydrate foods. It entails very low carbohydrate consumption – less than 20 grams daily!! The term used to describe diets that produce such a biological effect is “ketogenic”; hence, Atkins is a ketogenic, low-carbohydrate (KLC) diet.
