Healthy Skin
Skin is the largest organ of our body, and acts as a protective barrier, the first line of defence and the one that takes all the beatings of the outside world especially the harsh sun rays and chemical and air pollutants. In addition to this, certain lifestyle factors also have an impact on your skin. With a little extra care and attention you can retain your youthful healthy skin and delay skin aging.
- Diet - the impact of an imbalanced diet reflects directly on the skin. Fad diets or crash dieting can deprive the skin of essential nutrients and make the skin sag, dull and lifeless.
A diet rich in proteins, vitamins, especially B complex, A, C and E have valuable anti-aging effects. The antioxidants in vitamins C and E protect the skin from sun damage and reduce damage in skin cells caused by harmful free radicals, which are responsible for aging of skin. Vitamin A maintains and repairs skin tissue.
Biotin, a B complex vitamin is important for skin, hair and nail cells.
Whole grain cereals, a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, plenty of dark green and orange vegetables, consuming calcium-rich foods, such as fat-free or low-fat milk and other dairy products and eating healthy fats in addition to drinking plenty of water has a positive effect on skin.
