What makes yogurt healthy?
Yogurt is made by bacterial fermentation of milk and is synonymous with not just being a healthy side dish but also a great dessert option. It is often also used to enhance the flavor of dishes in oriental cuisine. The fermentation of lactose sugar by bacteria produces lactic acid which acts on protein of milk to give it texture and the characteristic sour taste. It provides the health advantages of milk to lactose intolerant persons who cannot digest milk. It’s loaded with calcium and vitamins and also supports to preserve healthy bones and teeth.
Yogurt is a food that is produced by culturing dairy ingredients by a characterized bacterial culture that contains the lactic acid producing bacteria, Lactobacillus Bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. Many yogurt products also contain Live and Active Cultures (LACs). These bacteria are often referred to as “probiotics”
