Action of drugs
Associating diabetic treatments and with risks for certain types of cancer is very recent, but what is bewildering is that it began ever since newer drugs/Insulin molecules have come in to the line of treatment. The question is can we attribute Metformin for lowering the risk? Active research is now on to see if metformin can actually be used to prevent or treat cancer.
Experts say that while deciding the line of treatment for diabetes, the risk of getting cancer should not be the major factor that swings it but it should be one of the conditions in mind especially if one has a high risk anyways. Surprisingly there has been no related research activity till recently but with all the new findings it definitely raises more questions and lays scope for additional research activity.
