A typical case - When Navin reported to his general physician, he had already been suffering from pain in his big toe for some months. Now it was red, all swollen and very tender to touch. He would wake up in the middle of the night feeling as though his toe was on fire. After a thorough check up and taking his medical and family history the doctor prescribed some tests. His doubts were confirmed when the lab reports came in- Navin was suffering from gout. His uric acid levels were unusually high. He also had a genetic predisposition to the disease as his father had suffered on and off from gout for years.
